Let's Talk//Mental Health Awareness

As most social media users know, today is Bell Canada's "Let's Talk" day. This day is designed to raise awareness about mental illness and get rid of the stigma that surrounds mental illness all over the world. Around 43 million Americans suffer from some kind of mental illness, with even more getting diagnosed each and every day. No matter what the illness is, it is important that we don't continue to create a stigma around it and treat people that live with mental illness as if they are just crazy, or sad, or nervous. I have struggled with both Attention Deficit Disorder and generalized anxiety disorder since middle school. My first and only struggle with a bout of true depression began last October and ended at the beginning of December. My anxiety set in soon after the loss of my best friend in fifth grade, when I began to realize that every day is not promised to us and you can lose everything in the blink of an eye. First Post//Who Is Em?

As you've probably already figured out, my name is Em. Well, actually, it's Emily, but Em is just easier to make awful puns out of, so I went with that instead. I've been toying with the idea of creating a blog for a while now, but never really had anything interesting to talk about while living the mundane life of an American public high school student. Luckily, the "real world" has hit me hard in the past few months, leading me to many important realizations, but also relatable content for this blogging thing. Now, I know what you're thinking: Every teenage girl has a blog these days. I don't wanna read your online diary about how relatable you are. The good news for you is that you don't have to. If you think my having a blog is cliché then by all means, stop reading and get on with your life. I just happen to think that making my thoughts more accessible might help people to get a better look at my life, my interests, and the way my brain works. I
